Concept
In 1942, Carl Malmsten designed the elegant Widemar armchair for lawyer and politician Ingrid Gärde Widemar, who became the first female justice in Sweden’s Supreme Court in 1968. Manufactured in only a handful of copies, the armchair never went into serial production. This year we are giving the armchair a new life at Stolab in the form of an exceptional interpretation by furniture maker Julia Greek. It is a refined piece of cultural heritage that we are preserving for our time. Widemar is part of the new Archive Collection, with furniture designed by Carl Malmsten. Widemar is made of solid birch finished with oil. The seat cushion is available in fabric or tanned leather from Tärnsjö in the colours Natural, Cognac or Dark Brown. Solid craftmanship.
