Product description
Based on the idea of a chair made out of one "plank" (shelf) Floris Hovers developed a series of products with a table, chair, bench and stool. Available in different colours.
Concept
Sometimes a slogan such as ‘within limitations’ is useful to help design clearly. By making the material integral to the design, the construction characteristics evolve naturally. A chair ‘from a single plank of wood’ formed the basis for the first model – back to- basics improvisation. The final result is the open Plankmeubel series: chair (1 plank), bench (2 planks), stool (1,5 planks), dining table (2,5 planks), desk (3 planks) and table (5 planks). The proportions are also dictated by the width of the plank. As a result, the furniture departs slightly from the standard sizes, giving them an elemental, uncompromising aspect. What is striking are the legs placed on the outside.
