Street Wood Bed
Beds from Uhuru Design
Product description
Concept
The headboard of the Street Wood Bed is made from thin strips of salvaged wood that are fit together, sanded, and hand-finished. The resulting striped surface is paired with a wood or steel frame.
Local workshops in Brooklyn produce scraps of fine hardwood that end up discarded because they are seemingly too small to use in furniture production. Seeing a design opportunity where others see waste, Uhuru is committed to collecting these scraps and inventing new ways of using them.
Available in custom sizes and finishes. Hand built to order, signed and numbered by the maker in Red Hook Brooklyn and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
Shown in reclaimed snow fence headboard with blackened steel base, standard king
