Product description

The BL28 LED light is a new version of the famous Brass Lights by David Derksen. The shape of the lamp is constructed by folding a 0,3mm thin brass sheet. For precise bending, lines have been etched halfway into the material. The lamps are assembled by hand in The Netherlands.

Where the original series of the Brass Lights use the more traditional E27 light sources, David created this new version of the lamp to match the current demands in lighting design. The lamp therefore includes LED light and a diffuser creating a better and more functional light output. The LED-driver is integrated in the lamp body and can be connected directly to the 220V network. The shape of the lamp has been simplified and modernized, without losing the aesthetics and delicacy of the original Brass Lights. By reflecting its surroundings, each facet gets a different tone, from dark gold to yellow and beige.

Concept

Simply by folding, a 0,3mm thin brass sheet can be used to construct stable forms. This principle defines the shape and aesthetics of the Brass Light. For precise bending, the lines have been etched halfway into the material. The sheets are then folded and assembled by hand in The Netherlands.

By reflecting its surroundings, each facet gets a different tone, from dark gold to yellow to beige. The material gives a bright colour to the light that shines from these delicate lamps. The three variations of the Brass Light make them suitable for many different interior applications.

This lamp has originally been designed in copper as the Copper Light, also available via Vij5 and visible on Architonic. Another variation of this lamp is the Wooden Light, made with wood veneer.
