Fishnet Chair
Chairs from Walter Knoll, Designed by Sadi Ozis, Neptun Ozis
Product description
Archetypical avant-garde. Back then it was ahead of its time. Today, its timeless character is so evident. The Fishnet Chair is classic design history. With artistic impetus, Sadi Ozis wove fishnet between the bent tubular steel framework back in 1959 – due to the lack of materials in Turkey after the Second World War. And in this reissue, featuring an upholstered seat and back - further developed later by Sadi Ozis together with his son, Neptun Ozis - the side chair has lost nothing of its iconic charm. A sculpture in design, authentic and of great innovative power.
Walter Knoll meets modern Turkish design history.
Art becomes design: a chair made of wide-meshed fishnet. Then a chair made of thin woven rope. Here an armchair reminiscent of a dancing dervish. With vital curiosity, special creativity and artistic impetus, Sadi Ozis designed the first modern furniture in Turkey in the 1950s. Sculptural and modern. Organic and functional. Elegant and sophisticated. Inspired by his art, reflecting the spirit of the times and the sense of modernity. Out of very little and unusual material, such as wire, tin and, as mentioned above, fishnet.
Today, more than 50 years later, the products are as modern as they were then: timeless icons of design. Walter Knoll is issuing the upholstered versions of these designs - further developed at the time by Sadi Ozis together with his son, Neptun Ozis - shaping common values and with the experience of excellent upholstery craftsmanship.
