Product description
Designed by the architects Bonet, Kurchan and Ferrari-Hardoy for a Buenos Aires-based planning office in 1938 (hence known as “BKF” in the Americas), the Hardoy Butterfly Chair was added to the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art at an early stage (New York, 1941). Following its rapidly growing popularity among artists, actors and architects, the chair was considered a design classic already by the late 1950s. After completion of the series production by Knoll, the chair’s unique design has been periodically reprinted by various manufacturers - since the beginning of 2010 through our company.
WEINBAUM has refined the original design of the Hardoy Butterfly Chair and uses for its production only premium materials. The Holstein cattle that is held at selected estancias throughout the provinces of Córdoba and Santa Fe feed during their two-year life exclusively on grass; meat and bone meal was outlawed decades ago. Untreated, all year round usable pastures and exceptional freedom (two cattle share a hectare of land) provide more than 3,000 calves, cows and bulls at our partner companies with excellent conditions. The result: Exceptionally durable leather whose soft touch will inspire you every day anew.
The original version of the Hardoy Butterfly Chair comes with a brushed, at four intersections welded frame of stainless steel. Our Ottoman adds charming and timeless elegance to the chair; it creates a comfortable surface and provides both to your feet and body grip in every position.
To emphasize the chair’s exceptional seating comfort, the covers are exclusively manufactured from vegetable tanned leather from cattle bare neck of the above-mentioned breed Holstein.
