Ed Tuttle – Ball Ice Bucket

Bar complements from Wiener Silber Manufactur, Designed by Edward Tuttle

Product description

Concept

US American architect and designer Ed Tuttle developed a sleek concave and a mellow convex ice bucket as a new iconic object to broaden the company’s outstanding silverware portfolio.

Ed Tuttle`s encounter with the traditional Viennese silversmith was equally driven by this spirit of mindfulness for the craftsmanship and his sensitivity for modern forms. The architect brought the idea to create an ice bucket that would ennoble any bar. Tuttle was inspired by the bronze vessels of the Chinese Han Dynasty that are characterized by their pure forms and perfect workmanship. Stimulated by these antique models, Ed Tuttle conceived two versions of an ice bucket, one with a concave and one with a convex form. The ice bucket “Concave” captivates by its gently curved outline, the smoothly polished wall and the semi-circular handle on the flat lid. The restraint in the design emphasizes the high quality of craftsmanship. The counterpart convex model “Ball” plays with spherical forms. Silver bullets or gemstones spheres exercising practical functions as feet or handles accompany the bulbous vessel like satellites. The ice buckets are entirely hand crafted and produced in pure silver. In order to maintain the temperature, the ice bucket are double walled and therefore very massive. The model “Ball” weighs about 2.200 grams, the “Concave” about 3.200 grams of fine silver.
