Kolo Moser – Case
Storage boxes from Wiener Silber Manufactur, Designed by Koloman Moser
Product description
Concept
The story is handed down in the Mahler family: As a Christmas present for his young wife Alma, composer Gustav Mahler envisioned a silver box, adorned with corals and designed by painter, graphic artist and craftsman Kolo Moser. On Christmas Eve, it lay under the tree, a silver box in the shape of a love letter - the initials of Alma Maria Mahler and the date of handover on the envelope. Moser's original drawing stayed in our archives. Up to today it serves as the draft for this hand-made declaration of love.
Kolo Moser was a central protagonist of Viennese art in the turn of the 20th Century. He was the co-founder of both the Wiener Secession and the Wiener Werkstätte, for which he designed mostly furniture, lamps and fashion accessories.
