Product description
Concept
With its new cafeteria system ,macao’, Wiesner-Hager has won the internationally renowned red dot design award 2011. This is a great honor for the Austrian based company and emphasizes the consequent focus on design during the last years. With macao, Wiesner- Hager is breaching conventional forms and creating the ideal prerequisites for the creative atmosphere that is increasingly expected of modern Working Cafés.
macao was developed in the creative studio „neunzig° design“. The designers have been inspired primarily by the elegant aesthetics and the highly functional constructions of natural structures: “Organic design means to explore nature’s character, understand its inner logic and integrate it into our world of products. Nature does not work precisely, but very effectively. It is a world full of chaotic systems, irregular networks and freely combined layers. Instead of computer-generated perfection we are exploring the beauty of freely modeled forms. Chance is turned into an aesthetic device. “
macao is a range of furniture which develops a stable stacking chair concept from its main theme of lightness. The upper side of the PVC shell has a clearly flowing contour – continuous and calm. The shell which is reinforced from the corners to the centre of the seat creates a stabilizing support and thus guarantees the necessary weight loading. Each leg, fashioned out of lacquered precision steel tubing, is bolted individually to the seat shell.
The chair can also be upholstered with a seat cushion in various colours. High-quality design, optical lightness and excellent sitting comfort can therefore be combined in a most satisfying way.
