Jacob wallpaper
Wall coverings / wallpapers from Wook Kim c/o Matter, Designed by Wook Kim
Product description
Concept
"A new line of wallpaper by Wook Kim, a Brooklyn-based textile artist, uses oddly placed animals to play with the traditions of the genre. In one example, a baroque floral pattern entangles a screaming peacock. "I devise a repeat,'" Mr. Kim said of the convention of duplicating a pattern," and then I interrupt it to create a new focal point and add depth to the design.'"
The designs also make reference to an array of decorative art traditions, including the Persian textiles paraphrased in the rabbit wallpaper, and the East Asian motif of a koi floating sleepily in a luminous lily pond.
The wallpaper is printed on 26-inch vinyl strips and comes with adhesive backing, and also in a nonadhesive version. Designs with custom elements are $24 per square foot; off-the-shelf styles, like the thistle patternare $20 per square foot."
