The new building containing two residences, situated on a steep building site and enjoying great views is replacing an old building on Lake Zürich’s left shore. The two units - of 150m2 each - are organised within the 4 storey cubic structure in such a way, that they function fully independently. The two maisonette apartments have separate entrances and their respective external spaces are laid-out to guarantee maximum privacy for each residence. Only the parking floor is a shared space. The desired qualities of independence and privacy are achieved through a complex spatial intertwining of the floorplans over three storeys of the building. This way both units enjoy lakeviews, sunshine and private external spaces on a plot organised in a terraces.
The metallic skin of the building has its own distinct elegance. Clad in horizontal bands of manually tin-coated copper panels - each panel has a pattern and glow of its own. Towards the lake the facades open up with full storey glazing in thin aluminium frames.
