The new headquarter of the musiclabel is equally an open space office to a laid-back room with a welcome feeling including two recording studios.
“When we took over the location everything was very bright and the floors were in natural finish. The space needed a transformation in order to be in the spirit of the label” says Danko Lekic, founder of Black Architecture.
The location of the label is in the urban part of Copenhagen. The artists are a mix of rappers, electro and pop. From the very beginning it was clear that the mood had to be refined ruff and masculine.
Black Architecture is known to work with a hierarchy when it comes to space planning. When entering the music label the first thing you see is a 21 meter long bench. This one piece bench is dictating a direction and movement that describes the label very good. It also gives a feeling of coolness and room to come in as a visitor any time and hang out. At other times it can be a gallery bench showing prizes.
“It was important for me to make a space makes the employees proud of working for the label. But it was just as important to signal for the existing artists and potential future artists that the label has an energy and eager to do a statement in order to be number one in the business” says Danko Lekic, founder of Black Architecture.
The workspace niches are divided by a combined metal wall in and window with rails. A huge almost black curtain gives each niche a soft touch and can be used when privacy is needed. Pendant lamps in glass and marble above the desks gives a perfect match to the soft curtain.
The label is young by heart and one of the demands was to have sofas where you can hang out. The largest sofa is in the VIP artist room where the contracts are being signed. The upholstery is in deep blue velour. “The best credit my client gave to me was, when they thanked me for going way above their budget. They dared to dream with me and allowed me to implement my ideas. The brand value they got as a final result is much bigger in value than the money they invested” says Danko Lekic, founder of Black Architecture.
