The interior design for Societe Generale Private Banking office in Sofia is an attempt to create a convincing whole out of pairs of opposing concepts: connection to the outside environment and intimacy, representativeness and comfort. The solution employs, on the one hand, the highlighting of the existing rhythm of space and its relation to the historical façade and, on the other, the varying degree of space-to-space connectedness along the vertical axis. The selected approach to artificial and natural illumination of the spaces, the selected material finishes, as well as the free-standing objects, in a way navigate between opposites too: up and down, black and white, colour and achromaticity, solidity and lightness.
While the main entrance and all windows open directly on one of the busiest pedestrian sidewalks in central Sofia, a considerable sense of privacy is achieved by means of the custom made textile blinds with electric drive bottom-up closing system, while avoiding complete isolation from the city street. Where the contrasting black and white marble floors, the ornamented white walls and ceiling, as well as the custom made luminaires underline the historicity of the space and the representative function of the venue, the tall dark wood furniture volumes cater for a more intimate atmosphere inside the individual office spaces. The same balance between representative and comfortable is maintained in the selection of furniture pieces and accessories: the main axis of movement is lined by abstract paintings by Bulgarian artist Stanimir Genov, whereas the office rooms are complete with colourful functional seating from Italian brands Luxy and Billiani, soft sofas and accessories from HAY (Denmark), conference room table by Andreu World (Spain).
