The project Auwegemvaart was build in an old school for private use. The school building had been reconverted by DMVA into casco lofts.
We were commissioned to furbish the livings spaces of one duplex loft: downstairs a wide open space containing a living room, home office, laundry-room and kitchen. A long wall of cupboards divides the living space from the hall and the laundry-room.
The floor has been coated in a white PU-coating. We decided to keep the space as open as possible in function of the natural light. We created a line of cupboards that start at the window, blend in to a kitchen, become an office and a library. The doors of the long storage wall, the library and the kitchen basically have a birch-plywood finish. On top of that, the long wall also got a 'gradient' from pink to white, every door gets a bit more pink towards the window. The working surface is made of black HPL and a piece of green PE around the sink.
The storage space is hidden behind a partially fake wall to put the administration (left side at the desk), coffee machine and other daily used stuff (right side - kitchen side). To hide the cooker hood, we kind of emphasized it by integrating it in an early abstract composition…
