The Max Plank Institute in Erlangen represents an innovative modern building with an avant-garde design.
Built for the Institute for the Science of Light, the structure covers almost 10.000 m2 with physical-technical laboratories, offices, a clean room lab and workshops.
The design focus on the concept of light. The high-gloss façade of the building is covered with reflective black panels that represent darkness and give a visual contrast to the total white look of the interiors. The entrance hall is characterised by a wide open space dominated by the main stair. The architect played with straight and circular lines, that lead your eyes up till a big round roof windows, that illuminates the atrium.
The concept of light leads to the choice of a neutral bright colour to cover floors and stairs and EUVAL terrazzo 81.10 Weibla has been the perfect choice to meet the needs of the project. A material with high technical performances that creates a luminous and natural atmosphere. On the first and last steps were realized some black carborundum strips that increase the safety and the anti slip properties.
The furniture have a modern sophisticated design and are in perfect harmony with the space.
The final result is a neutral and elegant image that create a valuable experience to the user.
