Garden in pinewood

The study of the greenery that embraces the villa, located on one of the main streets of Milano Marittima, is strongly focused on the research of the natural tranquillity, where the concept of natural lies precisely in the skilful use of the chosen species of plants, in line with both the existing context and with the new demands to satisfy in order to achieve the excellent liveability of the outdoor spaces, as much as the indoor environments. The ambition of a green oasis in the centre of this vibrant and popular seaside resort is made possible through a development layout of evergreens that follows and girds the development of the building - with a horseshoe garden around the house - and that conceptually moves from the outside to the inside, managing to immerse the building in a lush oasis, delimited by a pinewood which allows you to be unaware of the external influences on the surroundings.

The road that the villa overlooks is, in fact, long-lived and trafficked, since it is the main axis that directly leads to the sea, but the designers have been able to express and actualize an idea focused in terms of sound impact, other than visual and aesthetic. The joint work of the architects Pejorne and Brugo and the Frassinagodiciotto team found the optimal solution by creating a veritable evergreen barrier consisting of maritime pine trees and tall laurel plants: descending heights that start from the perimeter and arrive to the floral explosions of wonderful hydrangeas, to the ferns and undergrowth plants that frame the living area. The adopted solution is optimal from the botanical point of view, in addition to the aesthetic one, since the undergrowth plants make use of the acidity of the soil induced by the presence of the pines.

The housing volume, totally restructured, is based on the shades of cream and taupe which are also found in the white blooms of hydrangeas, in the furnishings, and in their complements – realized in hand-woven rope yarns, by Paola Lenti - and that therefore go to harmonize even chromatically with the building and the wooden floors. The two different species of hydrangea with white flowers thus light up the environment, which, even in the summer, is shaded and cool, a call to life in the garden even during the hottest moments. A summer garden in a bucolic and archaic atmosphere.

Pinus pinea, Laurus nobilis, Hydrangea arborescens ‘Annabelle’, Hydrangea quercifolia, Dryopteris erythrosora, Begonia grandis subsp. evansiana, Hedera helix, Liriope muscari, Helxine soleroilii.
