Located in the Greek Cyclades archipelago, Deos Mykonos is a luxury resort that is the result of GM Architects' multidisciplinary approach. The firm has masterfully combined master planning, architecture and interior design to create an unforgettable hospitality experience that fully reflects the island's genius loci.
A stone's throw from the capital and yet nestled in a world apart, Deos stands out among charming accommodations in Mykonos. Its charm draws from magnificent views, an authentic connection to nature and local culture, and the refined elegance of its suites with private pools, a superb spa and a panoramic terrace that captures every frame of the play of light on the vast Mediterranean.
Fluctuating between sea and sky, indoors and outdoors, the hotel recounts an almost forgotten way of being, of marking time, moving between the tranquility of a superb hermitage and the vibrant pace of the city. The very name "Deos" comes from the ancient Greek word that evokes a sense of awe and wonder inspired by the sublime.
Building on this concept and drawing on solid experience in beachfront resorts, GM Architects created a carefully crafted setting for this new jewel in the Myconian hotels collection.
The designers' intervention is evident in their ability to seamlessly integrate Cycladic architecture with modern elements, both in the interior and exterior spaces. "From the outset, the aim was to create an environment that reflected the natural beauty and rich history of the place, using local materials and handcrafted finishes to provide an authentic sense of belonging" - they explain.
The design captures the deep roots of the island, distilling a pure vision of romantic naturalism into an extraordinary epicurean experience. If lazy afternoons are transformed into exciting sunsets from the deck, the rooms and suites reinterpret the Mediterranean spirit and distinctive features in a contemporary way. Glamora's wall coverings play an important role in this fortunate intersection, helping to create environments that blend in with the natural Aegean landscape.
Present in several of the resort's rooms and suites, the wallcoverings blend harmoniously with the refined, minimalist décor, extending the visual continuity between indoors and outdoors, opening the view to private terraces with swimming pools and panoramic views. Sensation, Dehors, Sovas and Blur wallcoverings decorate the walls behind the beds and in the living spaces, creating a serene and sophisticated atmosphere. Sometimes they evoke a light sea breeze moving delicate blades of wild grass, at other times the statuesque stillness of leaves that project onto the walls or seem to emerge from them. Neutral tones give the rooms a distinctive character and a sense of quiet luxury, in keeping with the light touch and discreet, personalised service, where every detail has been thought out.
Deos Mykonos bears witness to how high-quality solutions, well integrated and respectful of the place they frame, can enrich any space, offering inspiration to those seeking a balance between modernity and authenticity.
