The apartment
In 16th district in Paris, a two-storey apartment on the last floor with a 360-degree view on the city, opening onto gardens. The tone is given: a haven of peace, like a ‘sanctuary’ at the heart of a vibrating city.
The homeowners
The meeting between the French owners of the place, in search of uniqueness and perfection, and Guillaume Alan, takes aim at excellence and a common passion for Asia. Very high demanding clients who adhered to Alan’s inspiration in order to create a calm and pure space, where luxury and rigor coexist without ostentation.
The architecture
Two apartments have been reunited and a complete reorganization of the space has been made to follow the light and the sun during the day. Through this work of global design, Alan didn’t want to astonish here. Everything has been designed for a calm and relaxing way of life according to the owners’needs.
Purity is a way of life. Alan rewrites the tradition of French classicism and renews it using pure and flawless lines. It’s a feeling of great simplicty and absolute purity, concealing an ultra-precise mastery.
Palette and textures
The palette here is monochrome, all about degraded shades, in a very light grey palette. The palette weaves through different supports: walls, oak wood floor, rug in natural linen, leather, silk, wool, bronze.
Although this gorgeous apartment isn't shy of space, by using the same tone across the apartment not only creates the illusion of more space but it also allows for more depth, texture and warmth to be added to each room without needed to commit to a colour or unneeded feature.
Furniture pieces
The subtle luxury of the apartment is also found in the furniture – all pieces are signed Guillaume Alan. Alan knows how to add subtlety and douceur by offering interiors and furniture pieces that are understated and based on luxury architecture and fabrication.
Custom-made and drawn out, the furniture pieces reflect a smart alchemy between raw and extremely refined materials, a subtle contrast and balance which marks the « stamp » of Guillaume Alan, an elegant combination of materials to convey to pure poetry of the space.
A work of contrast and timelessness. His schemes are tactile and luxurious : subtle mix of bronze, marble, brass, iron, brushed ashwood, corian, silk, leather, linen.
This apartment also reflects the quest of Alan for arts and crafts, his great attachment for an exceptional and genuine know-how, a level of quality beyond reproach, a richness of exchanges shared with the most refined craftsmen.
