In Japan, the term kindai describes the golden days and stands for modernism. Bright yellow is used as the central focus of the room’s design. Above the U-shaped kaiten bar where the chefs prepare fresh sushi, acrylic glass ribbons are suspended from the ceiling to create the impression of golden rain. Fittingly, the wall of the small lounge is painted with cloudy scenery as a backdrop, and the yellow, pentagonal ceiling lights above the dining tables are reminiscent of stars.
The horizontal lines of the counters’ wood paneling is emphasized by the different varnishes used on the boards, and gives them an appearance of being stacked. The black columns provide a vertical contrast, and divide the 180 square meter room into three areas – the bar, the lounge and the restaurant.
The dining tables alongside the broad windows are dominated by bright oak wood, which contrast the black seats. The red, blade-like table frames make another color statement as well.
