Albarracin Restaurant

The interior design studio, classico45, based in Zaragoza (Spain), has been tasked with modernising the Albarracín restaurant, located in the centre of Zaragoza. The restaurant has a 30+ year history and a renowned, high-quality cuisine. The work focused on remodelling the existing space to bring it into the 21st century, while also taking into account how the restaurant’s cooking combines tradition with new and cutting-edge proposals.

Classico45 opted to use natural, local materials like Albarracín plaster, with its highly characteristic orange colour, accompanied with warm lighting that has helped to create very cosy spaces.

The lighting was an essential part of this project, and the main lamp chosen was Marset’s Ginger model, designed by Joan Gaspar, a piece made of pressed oak wood with a concave metallic module housing the lamp, which gives off an indirect light that helps to define the personality of the space. Different versions of the Ginger lamp have been used: suspension, table, wall and suspended with an arm..

Another prominent material in this project is oak wood, which is used in two different finishes in order to differentiate the spaces, creating more neutral ambiances with a dark, dyed oak for circulation spaces, and a natural oak in the rooms to accentuate the lighting. The use of stone from Calatorao, in Aragon, a black marble, is also prominent and is featured in the façade of the restaurant.

With this upgrade, the classico45 team has managed to perfectly combine tradition and modernity in a unique, warm and cosy space that surprises visitors with its harmony and the balance that is conveyed by all of the elements selected to be a part of its new image.
