Quiet confidence, simple sophistication
Oak Valley is a high-end, ecologically sustainable golf and ski resort with private residences, featuring a museum by the leading Japanese architect Tadao Ando.
We have designed and furnished a private residential villa of 660 square meters.
Since in Korean culture it is considered important to protect nature, our main aim was to create a design that was completely integrated into the surrounding landscape. The house has its own shape and closely reflects the visual language used throughout the project.
We chose a strong shape with an extremely long line of granite that matches the stone from the ground. Thanks to this, it almost looks as if the house is growing naturally out of the rocks, while the exterior design is graphic and bold. The design was made for a client with a refined and balanced feeling for style. When choosing the materials, we carefully ensured that the balance between materials and a restful color scheme was retained. We called the routing the ‘flow of the river’. It starts as it were at the entrance to the house as a small mountain stream. Ultimately the path widens and encompasses more air and space, ending finally in the fantastic panoramic view out across the surrounding landscape.
The ease with which the construction of the house progressed and the excellent cooperation was due to the high level of professionalism and unprecedented involvement of the client, the construction company and the client’s architect.
