On the shores of Lake Garda, the hotel Baia Azzurra lies in a prime location: overlooking the beach and surrounded by greenery. An awe-inspiring panorama to enjoy with the comfort of cosy and newly renovated spaces, that the owners were eager to replicate outdoors as well, through an outdoor patio reflecting the modern facility's aesthetics.
Installed by the dealer Prato Verde Outdoor Living and designed by D4L Cestele Architecture Studio, the outdoor concept focused on a refined and functional solution, which found in Pratic’s Brera pergolas the perfect fit to meet the hotel’s needs for customization and versatility.
Thera are indeed nine units of the bioclimatic system, placed side by side, that build up the domotic pergola, which extends thirty-four meters in length and seamlessly with the facade. Here, guests can take a seat for breakfast and dinner or treat themselves with front lake aperitifs, whilst benefiting from the contact with nature and from pleasant protection from sun and light rains.
The Brera pergolas are in fact the outcome of a careful planning combining design and high technology to ensure a sustainable and effective use of the outdoor area. Thanks to the retractable blades, sliding backwards until compacting in a narrow space, the roof can be completely opened towards the zenith, thus providing a full view of the panorama and letting the natural light in. Moreover, blades can be stopped at any middle position in order to adjust air circulation and shading degree at will. This is also achieved by unrolling the Raso drop-down awnings, which are fully integrated in the profiles. Completely recessed, the Rasos feature an essential aesthetic and offer greater functionality, whilst creating a welcoming ambience and helping to keep a pleasant temperature beneath the pergola.
In addition, convenience lies in the automated management enabling pre-set scenarios to be easily recalled on all nine Brera units through a single touch on the remote control. Furthermore, the opening and closing of blades and awnings can be activated according to weather conditions, such as wind or sun, through built-in weather sensors.
To match the style of the hotel, the designers have opted for a monochromatic palette with light and bright tones. An ivory colouring, made in-house within Pratic coating plant, where always customized and low impact colourings can be produced by using paints that are certified against saltiness, humidity and UV rays.
The covering is therefore structurally in perfect harmony with the surroundings: the majestic, century-old bougainvillea, which adorns the building, had to be taken into account in order to have its irregularities along the façade soften. This latter aspect posed a challenge, which was easily overcome by the Brera bioclimatic system. In close collaboration with the design studio, a tailor-made solution was developed: brackets, fixed to the facade of the building, support a beam on which the pergola frames lay, thus preserving the beauty of plants and adapting to the unique layout of the covering.
This leads to an ideal dialog between design and nature, which at Hotel Baia Azzurra results in an authentic wellbeing for all guests.
