Stylish rooms for customers: The Bühler technology company headquartered in Uzwil in the Swiss district of St. Gallen commissioned their own architects and Carlos Martinez, interior designers, to build and fit out a customer centre. The clear, purist architecture and gleaming white rooms not only look good but help visitors to appreciate important Bühler AG values, including transparency, strength of innovation and future perspectives.
A three-storey glass construction with a fenestrated conference room on the roof was added to an existing tower building. A panoramic lift traverses the tower facade, connecting the individual parts of the building. With its light glass facade and purist design, the new building is in deliberate contrast to the existing seventies-style tower facade, underlining the company's advance into a new era.
Warm accents
The indoor spaces are in a sober white, reminiscent of hygiene and laboratories. The futuristic design is both a reference to the company's association with the foodstuffs industry and its planned future orientation. In the cafe, at the bar counters and in the visitors' work room, red wooden elements provide warm accents which bridge the divide between a functional customer centre and an attractive interior space.
Clouds of Light
The versatile TRILUX Polaron has been installed in the cafe and gallery. Behind the apparently random arrangement is a sophisticated lighting concept: 'Clouds of light' gather in areas where people communicate, and the modified light ambience supports this. A customer centre is a place of meeting for both customers and employees, so an atmosphere that promotes well-being is desirable. Slender light lines accent the meeting rooms on the upper storey. Ceiling-high walls and doors in corridors are covered with partly backlit matt glass. Overall, architecture and lighting blend to become a single unit, illuminating open rooms with generous light.
