VIDIVIXI's 2020 collection is a reflection on warm voluminous forms and bold graphic contours. Each piece has themes of repetition and curvature. Simple shapes are compiled and repeated stressing notable features. Strong lines are used to demarcate perimeters and set proportions. A low center of gravity in the work conveys permanence. Rolling organic profiles are blended together through a muted pallet. Black linear accents highlight key features like a template each piece references. The colors sit within a narrow spectral band creating soft transitions and a consistent even tone.
Vivien’s Dining Table
Vivien's Table is crafted from a solid dyed oak tabletop, encasing two pieces of bronze glass that sit on eight hardwood oak legs. A concave profile carves the edges of the tabletop, and follows down the interior and exterior of the eight legs. The paired legs create linear negative space rotating around the elliptic apron that follows the contour of the tabletop.
Café con Leche Occasional Table
Eight U-shaped curves interlock each other to create a square base structure. A series of bevels etched into the table help to emphasize the attaching points. A double pane bronze glass top is bordered with eased hardwood edges. Café Con Leche is made from American Walnut.
Switch Sideboard Credenza
The Credenza is fully stretched in un-dyed natural leather from the top to the stacked repetition of the base. The dyed black oak trim is used to dramatize the curved rectangular profiles. The piece has six front facing drawers with walnut interiors and custom turned brass patina hardware. The vertical side and back panels contrast these horizontal drawers and the linear movement of the piece.
On Second Thought Sofa + Club Chair
The Sofas have panels of leather running from front to back in lines that contour the form. The Club Chair emphasizes this theme with four black leather panels on the seat and back. The pieces are made up of stacked shapes uniformly distributed to maintain an even proportion. Leather piping adorns the perimeters of each component shape.
Docked En Rio Bed Frame
Docked en Rio has a fully upholstered bed frame. The velvet two tone color way of green and black is stretched around a folded mattress frame inspired by traditional Japanese furniture. The form is composed of modular cross-sections with a walnut rail that accentuates the folding shape and a walnut top that adorns the headboard.
Collector’s Cabinet
The Collector’s Cabinet is constructed in blackened steel combined with a blackened oak cabinet fitted to its interior. The cabinet is weighed down with black marble and is intersected by the cabinets’ frame. One-way reflective bronze glass hugs the outsides of the frame and is secured with custom brass hardware. Horizontal hardwood panels attach from behind and create a strong graphic silhouette.
Hermanx Auxiliary Table
The Hermanx Auxiliary Table works on the same principle as the Café Con Leche coffee table. Eight U-shaped curves interlock each other to create a square base structure. The scale is amplified and compressed to accentuate the “S” bend of the connections. It is topped with a five sided tinted glass box case that partially conceals the upper half of the dyed oak structure.
