Contemporary Interpretation of Post-War Modernism
The Herzog Bar is located in a listed post-war modernist building designed by renowned architects Sep Ruf and Theo Papst. Using materials such as brass and concrete and featuring terrazzo flooring, the bar’s interior pays tribute to the virtues of post-war modernism: in the 1950s, these durable materials could often be found in public buildings. BUILD Inc. not only developed the interior concept but also designed the luminaires and some of the furniture, resulting in a very unique and consistent design language. Cultivating the building’s historically significant architecture, the Herzog Bar sees itself as maintaining the context of post-war modernism.
