There’s a reason why global wellness brand Jacuzzi® has long gone from proper noun to the generic term for a whirlpool experience: superlative design and innovation.

×At a moment of profound global hardship, it is vital to focus on the important things in life, starting with our physical and mental well-being. As we look forward to what will likely be a very unusual summer, many of us are seeking new ways to care for our bodies and minds while spending more time at home.
Those of us lucky enough to have a garden, terrace or other outdoor space, can take advantage of the natural health benefits provided by sunlight and fresh air. To supplement this, activities including exercise, meditation, yoga, taking a bath or reading a book can all help to relieve stress. Bathing in hot water is one of the oldest methods used by people to relax and re-energise, providing a thermal contrast that awakens the body’s self-healing mechanisms and helps clear the mind. Incorporating this into our daily routine gives us an opportunity to recharge away from the stresses we all experience.

The company’s origins can be traced back to 1956, when Candido Jacuzzi, an Italian immigrant living in California, modified an immersion pump to create a portable hydrotherapy device to treat his son Kenneth’s severe rheumatoid arthritis. That first-ever prototype for hydromassage therapy provided the basis for the many products that now comprise the Jacuzzi® collection.

×Jacuzzi® is best known for its hot tubs, which use special jets of water issued at defined pressures to enhance blood circulation. Years of research and development have enabled the firm to refine the ergonomics of these spa baths, as well as the positioning and angle of the jets, in order to optimise the hydrotherapeutic effects. The intelligent design of the tubs ensures correct immersion of the body and better water circulation. Spending just 15 to 20 minutes in a hot tub can be enough to reduce stress levels and help tone the muscles, leaving the user more relaxed and promoting an overall sense of well-being.

×Alongside its core focus on innovation and well-being, Jacuzzi® also strives to deliver the best in Italian design. Its products are intended to complement the finest contemporary garden furniture, with sleek lines and classic materials providing a premium aesthetic. Architects can be sure that there is a hot tub to suit any space, from the Italian Design collection’s elegant aesthetics and refined details, to the more expressive, flowing form of the Virtus spa, which is inspired by the nautilus seashell.
For anyone working on projects with outdoor space and a focus on wellness at home, a hot tub is a beneficial addition to a well-considered outdoor space. We can’t all afford to build a swimming pool in the garden, and many of us don’t have a spare room we can turn into a gym, but hot tubs deliver numerous health benefits whilst taking up a limited amount of space on a terrace or patio. With many of us facing the prospect of a summer spent largely at home, hydrotherapy can at least help us enjoy this time by stimulating our bodies and minds. Just turn off the news, turn on the bubbles, jump in and relax.
