They made carpets fashionable: design is part of Object Carpet’s DNA. After successfully establishing itself as a specialist for the contract sector, the company began making carpets for private customers in 2006.

A strong trend towards personalisation is apparent in this segment, as is reflected not just in the availability of custom-sized rugs that harmonise with the room concept but also in the more than 1,200 textures and colours the new collection has to offer. “Our ideas and inspiration come from all sorts of different areas,” says managing director Daniel Butz, “and that means looking at the world with open eyes.”

As a family company, Object Carpet also attaches great importance to sustainability and health – as is apparent not just from its philosophy but from the fact that every single one of the textures is subjected to comprehensive testing. The carpets are toxin-free, virtually emission-free and, contrary to popular belief, particularly suitable for allergy sufferers. Many of the materials are recycled, for instance from old fishing nets that would otherwise pose a danger to the environment if not removed the ocean. Production waste and used carpets are also recycled whenever possible. If Daniel Butz has his way, “One day it will be possible to reintroduce the entire product to the production process.”

Ultimately, Object Carpet’s goal is to design rooms in such a way that they put people at ease. In addition to impeccable sustainability and health credentials, that also means the carpets should fit in with the structures and requirements of the spaces they’re used in: they should promote an individual atmosphere and, if necessary, encourage communication or create a sense of calm.
