Michael Fischbacher is the great-great-great grandson of the company’s founder, Christian Fischbacher, and thus represents the sixth generation of the family to lead the famous Swiss textile manufacturer into the future. The firm takes pride not only in the fact that it has remained in the family’s hands but above all, has sustained its core values. At the same time, each generation has had to both prove and reinvent itself.

Big legacy. It all began 200 years ago with the sale of traditional and locally produced fabrics, which slowly developed with its own textile ideas into the renowned Swiss textile publisher that now supplies the whole world

Dedicated to tradition
The 200-year success story that began in 1819 with the marketing of cloth woven by local peasant women is based on a strong sense of design and an uncompromising quality demand. Looking back, the initial concept was hugely visionary; it was diligently further developed, enriched with its own designs, continuously opened up new markets and brought textile art to perfection.

The power of creativity
Christian Fischbacher continues unwaveringly on its path with know-how and subtlety as main the ingredients in its recipe for success, along with the perfect balance of opulence and purism. Fabrics in gold, silver and metallic tones are produced using techniques ranging from traditional to innovative. But there remains space for classics too, such as the BENU Talent velvet that is lending Christian Fischbacher a new visage. However familiar the heavy, shimmering, opulent fabric may be, velvet is a rediscovered newcomer in interiors today. With fresh colours, it becomes a lively companion.

This new edition, and much more, can be experienced in Milan during the Salone del Mobile, from 9 to 13 April 2019, in the temporary showroom La Posteria in Via Giuseppe Sacchi 5/7. Here, Christian Fischbacher will celebrate its bicentennial with those who have accompanied the firm on its journey, with its partners and with design enthusiasts. It invites you to embark on a personal voyage of discovery.
