In ancient Rome, the bathroom was a social centre of everyday life, over the centuries however this cultural experience of the body has developed into more of a personal retreat. Initially intended as purely functional in nature, the bathroom has in more recent times taken on a new significance in our lives.

"People perceive the bathroom as an oasis of well-being. They stay in this room for much longer, and mould it to their own individual style" confirms Sven Rensinghoff, Head of Marketing at BETTE. With its free-standing bathtubs and washbasins, BETTE has developed design objects that are not built in but self-confident components of the architecture.
