It is well-known that our working environment is changing towards greater self-determination and individuality. Terms like open space, co-working and smart working have long since entered our vocabulary for contemporary office design. Office furniture producers have recognised this trend and are now offering a multitude of solutions to address the increased desire for flexibility in the workplace.

One company that is worth a closer look in this context is the German manufacturer Bosse. Its ‘Bosse cube 4.0’ presents a room-within-a-room concept that is striking for its outstanding quality and sophisticated German design.

Bosse was a pioneer in developing the concept of building-independent spatial structuring systems in the 1980s. In 2003, this gave rise to the first free-standing cube as a room-within-a-room, the design, technology and functionality of which the company has perfected over the years. From the original idea, a high-tech version was born: the ‘Bosse cube 4.0’.

Moreover, the modular system can be specifically adapted to the respective purpose and situation. Chic, functional and extremely easy to use, the ‘Bosse cube 4.0’ allows the granular setting of parameters that decisively influence working comfort and efficiency. At the same time, it foregoes unnecessary ballast.

Set-up is quick and uncomplicated thanks to the cube’s modular construction. Because the ‘Bosse cube 4.0’ works without a floor panel, it can be installed on any floor surface and fits seamlessly into its surroundings. It is easily connected to the power grid by way of an electric socket, making any intervention in the building structure unnecessary. Thus categorised as furniture, it offers optimal write-off possibilities – a point of interest to customers in Germany as well as other countries.

With two ceiling heights, and width and length dimensions that can be combined virtually at will, the ‘Bosse cube 4.0’ offers nearly infinite options in the zoning of workspaces. Whether as a quiet refuge for focused work or relaxation, a space for one-to-one discussion or larger meetings, it is versatile in its application possibilities. Because it is very easy to modify or remove, it can be adapted to changing office structures and new room layouts.

Many companies today seek customised furnishings that reflect their corporate philosophy. The ‘Bosse cube 4.0’ responds to this wish with numerous design options. A minimalistic frame provides its basic structure, in classic aluminium or a more modern-looking black anodised finish. The glass elements include integrated sound-insulating film. On each side of the pane, panels can be individually installed, either as fixed elements with integrated media connections and electrification or as flexible panels that move freely on tracks. These are available with a melamine or a whiteboard surface, or they can serve as acoustic panels, with customised fabric covers or photographic prints.

The ‘Bosse cube 4.0’ is convincing both inside and out, and not just in terms of its appearance. Among its special characteristics is its extremely high sound level difference of over 38 dB, which facilitates undisturbed work inside and outside. A sound- and energy-efficient ventilation system that is integrated into the ceiling optimises the cube’s interior climate. High-performance LEDs in combination with free-form lenses allow the light spectrum to be adjusted as needed. Ventilation and lighting can be steplessly regulated, by app if desired. Definable scenarios can be changed at the touch of a button.

In addition to the ‘Bosse cube 4.0’, the company has expanded its range with two smaller versions that enhance everyday life in open-plan offices or production environments where there is a constant high level of noise. While the ‘Bosse telephone cube 2.0’ – a modern ‘telephone booth’ – enables undisturbed conversation, the ‘Bosse dialogue cube’ offers space for two persons as an en miniature conference room. Like the ‘Bosse cube 4.0’, both are equipped with high-quality technology and can be individually customised.

Founded by Günter Bosse in 1962, the firm has made a name for itself in the office furniture industry over the years. Since 1992, Bosse has been a part of the Dauphin Group, giving it a presence on the international market.
