Cassina has reworked and reissued a number of iconic, mid-century designs and is moving them into public spaces with the new Cassina PRO collection.

When it comes to desk-ing to impress, what is more envy inducing than an office with an LC10 Bureau La Semaine à Paris, an adaptation by Charlotte Perriand of the LC10 table by the supreme design triumvirate Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand, teamed, perhaps, with a couple of Marco Zanuso’s Lady armchairs, invitingly placed for timeout with co-workers.
While many such design classics might originally have been conceived as something quite everyday - albeit in this case, for a specific project - the veneration of the modernist vernacular in recent times has often made them more sought after statement pieces. Cassina, who have edited and re-edited many iconic mid-century designs, are now looking to take some of them into public spaces via the new collection, Cassina PRO.

Cassina PRO gathers both new and classic design pieces - from the existing portfolio and beyond - that have been adapted and certified for use in professional environments, public spaces and hospitality settings. Selecting some of the most covetable classics, it has sought to shore up their practicality and resistance to wear and tear with a few design and material tweaks, making them a fit for areas of high footfall.
The collection’s icon count is high. Think Charlotte Perriand’s LC7 Siège tournant fauteuil, which for the PRO collection has a fifth leg to make it stable for restaurants and office use; or Franco Albini’s Infinito Wall bookcase adapted for modern usage with a low upright that makes it possible to insert a cabinet and compartment for a 65-inch screen, and a cable management system that maintains the clean lines of the original design.

‘The pieces were chosen for the collection based on their utility and function for the hospitality sector and workplace,’ says Cassina CEO, Luca Fuso. ‘There are also a number of pieces that had great potential to be adapted, such as the Ventaglio table by Charlotte Perriand which now has cable management.’
With its sympathetic calibrating of classic pieces, Cassina PRO brings new opportunities for polish from the boardroom to the bistro.
