Flexible, innovative and future-oriented: in the idyllic village of Muotathal, the young generation has taken over at the helm of MAB Möbel AG.
As you take in the idyllic landscape on the journey from Schwyz to Muotathal, you almost forget that you’re on your way to MAB Möbel AG and not setting off for a holiday in the mountains. The family business is located right in the heart of the village, surrounded by an imposing panorama of Alpine peaks. The clock seems to tick a little more slowly here than it does in the city. Inside, the atmosphere is dominated by elements that have stood the test of time – like traditional craftsmanship and carpentry. But the company soon turns out to be full of contrasts.
Modern technology, advanced processes and premium craftsmanship merge into a future-oriented concept. The result: contemporary, top-quality wooden furniture with a filigree and surprising signature. That’s due in no small part to the three siblings who took the family business over in 2019: Marco, Simona and Andreas Föhn. The new generation is bringing not just new designs but new visions as well. While values like flexibility, quality and “made in Switzerland” still play a central role, a new strategy is coming into focus.

×Great importance is attached to the continuous improvement process (CIP) in the production operation, which can guarantee delivery reliability of 99% to this very day. With the MAB 2023 project, the company is continuing to look to the future and making important investments in machinery and buildings. The goal is to reduce delivery times, implement ideas quickly and ensure consistent data handling from the sale all the way to production.

×At MAB, sustainability and top-quality craftsmanship are more than just a marketing slogan: both aspects are closely interwoven with the siblings’ philosophy. Maximum flexibility and sustainable production are the top priorities: the furniture is made exclusively to order and produced on site. Thanks to the numerous materials and colours available, the products can be adapted to make them an ideal fit with customers’ requirements.

×Besides classic furniture production, MAB has expanded its activities in recent years and now implements contract interiors as well. The latest examples include the library in Feusisberg in the canton of Schwyz, for which MAB designed and implemented the entire interior in walnut, and the Mattenhof project in Zurich, a large-scale contract involving built-in cabinetry and cloakrooms for 360 apartments, a day nursery and a preschool.
