×If you dare say the word, our ‘love’ affair with the outside world is becoming a full-blown committed relationship. Homes, workplaces, hospitality and commercial venues are all exploding out into whatever outdoor space they can get their green fingers on. Even those with no outdoor space to speak of are bringing the natural environment inside instead, with floral themes blooming in the worlds of textiles, wall coverings and interiors in general.
When we considered the interior space of our relaxing, inspiring DAAily bar at Milan Design Week, it was clear from the start it would need to be a richly engaging, sensory space. We needed a comfortable, workable outdoor space for lead-legged festival-goers to unwind, that would flow through to a celebratory natural interior, with broken and blended boundaries between the two.

×Lady of the Flowers – Anne Vitchen
Encouraging this human connection to nature and our environment – along with a 30-metre-long art curtain, created with melting glacial ice to remind visitors of our human connection with (and influence on) nature – the DAAily bar will hand its creative keys over to the renowned floral designer, Anne Vitchen.
It may sound like the kind of job title envisaged in a childlike daydream, but for the Ritz Paris’ in-house ‘Lady of the Flowers’, it’s a reality. ‘The Ritz was obvious from the beginning,’ reminisces Vitchen, ‘I often passed Place Vendôme, one of the most beautiful squares in Paris. I watched the Ritz from a distance and I dreamed of it.’ You may question why a hotel needs its own personal floral identity, but with Vitchen’s record and reputation for creating the most stunning and wonderful botanic worlds for weddings and events, the partnership is entirely natural.

×A floral connection
It’s not just hotel lobbies and wedding venues, however, the designer also works crafting unique floral installations for iconic, influential fashion and lifestyle brands such as Dior and Chanel, as well as photoshoots for fashion editorials like Vogue and Tatler.
And now, from 7 to 10 June at Milan Design Week, a new enchanting and immersive flower installation at the DAAily bar at Swiss Corner will transform the venue into an unmissable experience.
