BIM technology is able to feed 3D technologies with a whole range of additional intelligent information – which opens up numerous new possibilities in the field of visualisation. At BIM World MUNICH this year, you’ll be able to see three innovative examples of this in action.
For centuries, two-dimensional drawings – of plans, sections and viewpoints – as well as physical models served as the tools used for representing things in architecture. Today, we have 3D models that can be digitised using BIM technology and fed with a whole range of additional intelligent information. In the field of visualisation, this opens up numerous new possibilities. Three innovative examples will be shown at this year's BIM World MUNICH as part of the international congress programme.
At first glance, architecture and gaming technology may not have much in common. However, there are numerous areas of crossover from which architecture can benefit. Virtual models of real, existing facilities or rooms can be used for process optimisation. Dr. Ilka May, CEO of LocLab Consulting, will present examples of how game technologies are used for the planning and operation of buildings and facilities.

×Would you like to be able to examine and edit a model during a virtual tour? René Subhieh and Daniel Stoeger from Xeometric show how this is possible. In their lecture, they will present intelligent building-modeling with interactive, real-time, BIM visualisation. This duo, one a software developer, the other a distributor for planning and construction, have more than three decades of experience in building-modeling. Their ELITECAD Architecture software combines intelligent 3D CAD planning technology with unique visualisation and interaction possibilities.

×At the end of the day, however, even the best technology in the world is of no use if the project participants do not trust one another. On this issue, formitas AG’s Regional Director, Shahin Farahzadi, and Head of BIM, Dirk Meinecke, will discuss how technology can create trust. They will present already implemented BIM practices using Virtual and Augmented Reality, as well as explaining how they can contribute to improving cooperation on BIM projects.
