This year, too, the imm cologne will provide lots of opportunities to discover young design talent and discover fresh ideas. Here a few suggestions.
This year, too, the imm cologne will provide lots of opportunities to discover young design talent and discover fresh ideas. The exhibition presents the third series of the [d3] Design Talents event, this time in a new form. The previous trilogy of Future Point, Inspired by Cologne and NRG have become [d3] Schools, [d3] Contest and [d3] Professionals. A further innovation is the location - [d3] Design Talents has moved to Hall 2.1, which means that it is now even closer to the core of the fair.
101% Designed in Brussels
In connection with [d3] Design Talents, "101% Designed in Brussels" is this year once more presenting five selected young Belgian designers. Developed by designers for designers, this is a promotional initiative of a different kind, operating close to the market and yet still retaining the authenticity of the product as the dominant factor.
The result was that last year we were inspired by designers like Sylvain Willenz, who studied at the Royal College of Art in London but now once more lives and works in Brussels. He is fascinated by the challenges provided by natural materials such as rubber, for example. In spite of their experimental nature his products are always marketable and consistent in their formal language. Accordingly he is a good example of that 1% extra talent which distinguishes Brussels design - and an excellent reason why we can once more look forward to the five new Belgian talents who will be on view this year!
This year "Designed in Brussels" presents Sylvain Willenz in a special showcase in Brussels: 11/01/2008 - 16/02/2008 - rue de Laeken 99 Lakensestraat, 1000 Bruxelles
Designspotter
Last but not least we should of course mention the exhibition which is presented by the online design platform Designspotter. Here 50 selected international designers have the possibility to present their products to the wider public. Famous designstudios such as PearsonLloyd from London are among the participants. Party: 16., 8pm at Tausend Bar, Aachenerstrasse 57, 50674 Cologne
