DMY Berlin

Berlin – at the moment no other major city can match Germany's capital in terms of culture. Low rents and readily available exhibition space, the low cost of living and empty factory buildings all provide an ideal platform for the creative scene and have for years now been tempting designers and artists from all around the world to this pulsating city on the Spree.

"Same same but different" – DMY Berlin
From 3-7 June the seventh DMY International Design Festival will be taking place in Berlin.
The DMY Berlin design platform, which was founded in 2003, set itself the target of establishing Berlin design at international events such as those held in Milan, London and venues in Asia. The annual 5-day DMY Festival has now established itself as a central forum for the international design scene.

The seventh edition of the festival: "Same same, but different" will focus specifically on forms of design which reveal new design solutions that make an impact in a social and artistic frame of reference while highlighting differences.

In addition to the 'DMY Youngsters', the exhibition for innovative and experimental design by the younger generation (more than 300 designers in 120 presentations and exhibitions), this year the festival will also feature the second central exhibition by the 'DMY Allstars' – showing established designers and brands, 4 institutions and 2 design festivals with curated exhibitions. On view will be new products and prototypes by over 150 designers from more than 16 countries, including: Walking Chair (A), Oskar Zieta (PL), Mats Theselius (SE), Postfossil (CH), FbG-Interactive Lab (AR) and elegant embellishments (GB/D). As part of 'DMY Extended' no less than 52 individual and group exhibitions will extend across the entire city.

Further major attractions at the festival are 'Dutch Design Focus', which will be presenting design from the Netherlands (including Studio Makkink&Bey, Designhuis Eindhoven, Material Sense), and the 'DMY Symposium' with lectures from speakers such as Lidewij Edelkoort, Jerszy Seymour, Ronen Kadushin, Jurgen Bey, Marije Vogelzang and Arik Levy.
