The flush of youth: O.novo Kids from Villeroy & Boch

Something revolutionary is happening in the bathroom. Instead of leaving children to adapt to adult wash basins and toilets as in the past, Villeroy & Boch's O.novo Kids series takes the opposite approach: it adapts itself to the proportions of the smallest members of the family and even grows with them.

Kids don't stay the same size. This sounds like a statement of the obvious, but it poses a number of challenges in everyday matters – especially in the bathroom. In response Villeroy & Boch have developed the O.novo Kids series – and not just for children but together with them. The wash basin is staggered in three heights, ranging from 550 to 600 and 650 mm, while the respective depths vary between 220, 245 and 275 mm. This gives children the opportunity to decide intuitively for themselves which dimensions are best suited to them. It makes use of the facilities easier and encourages independence of action at an early stage.

Colour also plays an important role in the use of the fittings. The handles of the mixer taps are marked in bright red, yellow or blue tones – as is the large flush button next to the toilet bowl. The colours make it unmistakably clear that "something's happening here". The toilet seat, which contains a blue and yellow seat ring under a red lid, is also self-explanatory. The rings differ in the size of their openings and can be lifted individually using clearly visible handles. Here, too, children learn independently which ring is a better fit for their body size. At a height of 350 mm the toilets from the O.novo Kids series are significantly lower than the standard height of 410 mm. After all, they are intended for the use of children and not adults.
