×Wouldn’t life be so much easier if the right solution to every problem was more accessible? For our homes and living spaces at least, Bremen-based raumplus has been making this a reality for almost 35 years, offering its customised, off-standard and stylish room solutions.
‘Work in progress’ is perhaps the phrase that best describes the condition we find ourselves in every day – no matter in which context, whether with regard to work, our personal relationships or social interactions. And hopefully, as each day passes, we can claim to be a little wiser than we were yesterday – taking small steps each time towards perfection. And, quite clearly, inspiring exchanges with others support us on this path.
For raumplus – specialist in the manufacture of hinged doors, sliding doors, wardrobe and storage systems, and room dividers – this thoughtful interaction with its partners is central to its philosophy and work, because it does not produce off the peg, so to speak, but rather, to the millimetre, according to the client’s wishes and requirements.
A door to a new dimension: The aluminium framed ‘RPE’ revolving door not only closes off storage spaces up to three metres high, its different profile surfaces also make a definitive interior design statement

×From the individual bedroom cupboard to entire shopfitting projects, from the room-dividing sliding door to the double-leaf door, as well as formats that fall outside of conventional frameworks, the right solutions are found to suit custom, individual requirements – no matter how irregular the angles.

Solutions to clients’ challenges are conceived on-site with specialist planners, interior designers and international planning offices, and realised in cooperation with raumplus. Against this background, the family-owned company, which now spans three generations and all continents, has developed a versatile product portfolio that is constantly being optimised and expanded via feedback from its diverse partners.

בPrecisely because each of our products is a unique, custom-made piece, we consider it our duty to constantly develop and improve our systems. They form the basis of customer satisfaction and our success,’ says Kathrin Strauss, Art Director at raumplus.
Thanks to this constructive process, even the aluminium-framed ‘RPE’ revolving door has outgrown itself and can now reach heights of up to three metres. ‘RPE’ is a perfect solution for older, high-ceilinged buildings and lofts, because, great as it may be to have open space like this available within a room, it is also often a strong advantage to be able to utilise this extra space for discreetly and stylishly storing possessions.

This is a challenge that, up until now, has been limited by construction restrictions. But, thanks in part to an extensive development phase, the new door, which was presented for the first time at the IMM 2020, has since enabled planners and interior designers to create cabinets and fittings that stretch well beyond conventional dimensions. This is not only limitlessly practical, but can also be implemented in a variety of ways thanks to the different coloured profile surfaces, and insert elements such as safety glass and mirrors.
By extending the ‘Swing Door Slim Line’ with a second leaf, even large wall openings can be closed off in style. The visible surface can be designed both symmetrically or asymmetrically

×In addition to this new ability to take advantage of open spaces at higher room altitudes, raumplus presented another innovation at the IMM 2020, which was also developed from an already existing model. The double-leaf ‘Swing Door Slim Line’ fills large wall openings with such lightness that it has already been awarded the German Design Award 2020 in the ‘Excellent Product Design – Buildings and Elements’ category.
Here, the two-part system not only functions as a large-format door, but can also be used as an entrance for offices, professional practices or event rooms, or as a partition for bathrooms or wellness areas. Regardless of whether the second leaf is anchored at the top and bottom or whether both are opened together, this door, with its filigree black anodised aluminium frame, has a striking effect whatever the every configuration.
Perfection down to the last detail: thanks to a magnetic lock, the door closes as easily and quietly as if by magic (top). The inactive leaf is fixed by means of a ground sleeve or released as necessary (top)

×Both innovations are based on established products which, with a great deal of aesthetic sensitivity and technical know-how, have been consistently perfected over the years. The company sees itself as a design manufactory that not only uses high-quality materials and innovative processes, but one where its master tradesmen get plenty of hands-on time with their products too – these are products, after all, which can make the boast of being customised and made to measure.
It’s no surprise that the ‘Swing Door Slim Line’ was awarded the German Design Award 2020. Despite its size, it’s not only light-footed, but also elegant and well-thought-out – right down to the handle

×In addition to close cooperation with renowned designers, the creative exchange with recognised research institutes plays an important role in testing technical innovations and production methods, and integrating them where necessary. As perfect as the solution for each individual request may be, raumplus will always keep moving and thinking about tomorrow. Perfection in progress ...
