Richard Lampert receives his visitors at his company headquarters, a lovingly restored office directly behind the museum mile and castle in central Stuttgart. The numerous furniture prototypes scattered around the rooms give you an immediate sense of the creative spirit that prevails here. For 20 years, Richard Lampert and his company have been successfully producing design classics by Egon Eiermann or Herbert Hirche and developing contemporary, innovative design. His portfolio, which currently comprises more than 30 products, includes some very special treasures – first and foremost the original Eiermann table frame, for which he owns the sole manufacturing rights, or the Lounge Chair by Herbert Hirche. But implementing new ideas is no less important to Lampert, who collaborates with young designers to create products characterised by an unconventional approach, high quality and timeless design. "I look out for things that are special," says Lampert, "independent furniture that nevertheless fits in well with other things." The "Cup" armchair and couch are prime examples. Created by Cologne designer Eric Degenhardt, the upholstered furniture bears a strikingly architectural signature.

Driven by curiosity and his pursuit of well-made design, Richard Lampert is constantly venturing into new territory. In 2011, for instance, he presented the "Richard Lampert Kids Collection" at the imm cologne – a brilliant demonstration of witty design and lovingly executed details. "Rocker", a rocking horse by London design duo Doshi Levien, even made its way into the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. And as if that wasn't enough, there are countless ideas in Richard Lampert's head just waiting to be turned into reality. His latest coup: the "Living Outdoor" collection, a complete ensemble of garden furniture for individualists.
