Outdoor furniture specialist RODA has developed a new addition to the designer’s digital toolkit, which transforms their iPhone or iPad into a portal for visualising outdoor projects in a real-life setting.

The playful and intuitive RODA Projects app enables simple schemes to be created and configured in a matter of minutes, allowing users to see how products from the RODA collection will look in their own space. Once downloaded, the free app’s straightforward 3D interface makes it easy to quickly adjust the position, size, colours and materials of the products by tapping, swiping and dragging. Professional designers will also appreciate the possibility to accurately create layouts in a 2D planner.

Users can tailor the furniture and accessories using the wide range of specification options available through RODA’s Mix&Match project. This allows for instant comparisons to ensure different items complement one another. Projects created in the app can be edited and saved at any time, and the images can be shared using messaging or social media platforms.

The centrepiece of the innovative app is an augmented reality function that allows users to configure products in a 3D scene and then layer this on top of a photo of their terrace, garden or porch. Rather than merely imagining how the products might look in real life, RODA Projects makes it easy to generate and step inside a realistic virtual version of your future outdoor space.
