Edition Ruckstuhl 2013 brings together the ideas of a number of internationally recognised designers. After an enthusiastic start at the last Designers' Saturday in Langenthal and the successful market launch of the designs of Hussein Chalayan or Arik Levy, there now follow the creations of Patricia Urquiola and atelier oï.

We will be exhibiting the carpet designs of these two exceptional designers during the Milan Furniture Trade Fair, at our showroom in the heart of Milan. You can find us just off the Piazza San Babila. We look forward to seeing you there!

Jamini – inspired by autumn leaves, with colours that run into one another, atelier oï has taken these colours and applied them in a playfully pixellated design which in turn is interrupted by the geometrical arrangement of the colour areas. The overlapping of the fields suggests a floor where different oriental rugs have been superimposed on one another. The Jamini is woven by hand, so each carpet is a unique specimen.

Ruckstuhl's 'Logenze' has an irregular geometrical form consisting of several large-scale rhombuses. It has resulted from extensive research, both in the field of colour and in terms of the wool weaving technique that has been used.

Soumak technique was chosen for this - a traditional weaving technique from the Caucasus that involves weft wrapping. Together with the use of colour nuances and the rhomboid design, this makes it possible to achieve three-dimensional effects in addition to the standard two-dimensional ones. The binding of the different modules has been carried out in accordance with all the rules of the art. Special attention has even been devoted to the back of the rug - with the help of the Soumak technique just mentioned, little woollen flowers have been woven into the fabric.
