Montreal-based and globally focused, ACDF is one of Canada’s most energetic and exuberant young architecture firms. Since launching in 2006, the 40-person - and growing - studio has enjoyed a bold ascent and continues to complete ever-more ambitious, design-savvy projects at every scale, including commercial, residential, hospitality, interiors and master planning projects. Under the direction of principal Maxime-Alexis Frappier, the studio’s work is timeless and highly tailored, with trim lines and intelligent planning. Clever touches add levity - such as trompe l’oeil patterns or unusual juxtapositions of materials that instill a sense of spirit.
The studio engages each client with a high-degree of care, building a strong relationship based on open communication and respect. ACDF respects timeline and budgetary constraints while creating custom spaces that reflect the client’s brand, from the overall concept down to the smallest detail. ADCF’s distinct approach has garnered numerous accolades. The firm won a 2010 Governor General’s medal, and an Award of Excellence from the Quebec Association of Architects, for one of its first completed projects - the St-Germain Sewer and Aqueducts headquarters, which elevated what would be a utilitarian facility into a sublime workplace.
In 2013, Frappier received the Young Architect Award from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, for his exceptional commitment to the profession as a leader, educator and ambassador. ACDF’s numerous high-profile commissions include the Centre d’art Diane-Dufresne in Repentigny, a timeless, temple-inspired arts centre with canting columns clad in stainless steel; PARQ Resort, a mixed- use Vancouver urban tourist complex volumetrically founded on local landscapes; and the de la Montagne Condominiums, two trim skyscrapers that will elegantly contribute to Montreal’s skyline and will act as a pedestrian urban connection between two central downtown streets.
Internationally, the firm is implicated in large-scale projects in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Their proposal for the Keelung Harbor in Taiwan, which was a finalist in a major international design competition, has received much attention for its stimulating choreography of towers, which act as beacons on the horizon of the harbor, and for its well- programmed public spaces.
