Bach Arquitectes is a studio that combines more than forty years of experience with the emerging talent of young architects both in professional practice and academic scholarship.
From urban scale projects to single-family housing and object design, their approach always responds to the singular challenges of each project, context and technologies at hand, purposely departing from unpredetermined solutions.
Their work has received many national and international awards and recognitions, and has been published in more than 400 publications as well as in digital media.
Their projects have been exhibited in more than 20 countries worldwide and its partners have taught in several universities in Spain and in other European countries.
The studio has completed more than 100 projects in the following key areas of expertise:
• Design and remodeling of urban spaces
• Sports facilities and urban design for Olympic Games
• Urban transportation facilities such as railway stations, exchangers and operative centers
• Office buildings
• Social Housing
• Single family housing
• Object design
Biography
Jaume Bach (Sabadell 1943), PhD Architect and Professor at ETSAB – Barcelona Architecture Universtiy since 1970.
He has been professor of Composition and Project Design. He has been Degree Project coordinator, and president of the foreign degree convalidation jury. He has been visiting professor at Urbino, Hannover, Dublin and Bucharest. He has given many seminars and lectures in Spain, Germany, Austria, France, Netherlands, Italy, Slovenia, England, Ireland, Finland, Portugal, Rumania, United States, Argentina, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile and Russian Federation.
His work has been exhibited in several cities in Spain, and internationally in Buenos Aires, Mexico DF, Moscow, Berlin, Essen, New Delhi, Chicago, Vienna, Florence, Basel, Frankfurt, Paris, Tokyo, Caracas, Santiago de Chile, Rotterdam Athens, New York or Brussels, among others. His works have been published in architecture and design magazines all around the world, and four different monographies have been edited showing his works during his career.
His work has been granted with many distinctions among which there is the First Prize for the remodelling of the Bospolder Square, Rotterdam and the First Prize for the Liturgical adaptation of the Parma Cathedral´s Presbitery. Among many other recognitions, he has been awarded with four FAD Awards, four FAD Opinion FAD Awards, and he has been Finalist in 13 occasions, and selected for 10 other works. Internationally, he has been selected for the Mies van der Rohe Awards and has four Brunnel Commendation Awards for Railway Public Transport, among other recognitions.

He is Associated Professor at ETSAB - Barcelona Architecture University, and ETSALS – Ramon LLull University. He has been assistant professor at the Vertical Workshop ESARQ UIC, Barcelona, and Mies van der Rohe Department Associated Professor, ETSAB UPC. His work has been published in several national and international magazines and digital media, and has been exhibited, among others, at the Spanish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2016 (Golden Lion), “Export”, ICO Museum, Madrid, 2015; “Elective Affinities” in COAC Barcelona 2015 and Girona 2014, “Aproximacions”, COAC, Barcelona, 2012; in “Catalan Architecture” at the Institut Français de l´Architecture, Paris 2009; Spanish Pavilion Venice Biennial 2000 (Golden Lion); HiCat, MACBA (Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art) 2001; Eme3, Center for Contemporary Culture Barcelona 2001; Bo01 Parasite – The City of small things (Kobenhavn, Rotterdam, Oslo, London) 1999.
