Bryndís Bolladóttir is a textile designer and artist who runs a production studio in Reykjavik, Iceland. She is inspired by architecture, design and art which reflects her interaction between functional and visual installations. Playfulness is important to her through different set-ups and through different functions of the same idea. Bryndís uses Icelandic wool in her work which is also inspirational to her approach in design.
Since 2007 Bryndís has focused on sound absorbing and diffusion qualities in her work to meet the challenge of better acoustics by taking architecture and qualities of each space in consideration with aesthetics and technical objectives. Bryndís has developed two collections named KULA and LINA which both have an ISO-Certification for their sound absorption qualities, with Icelandic wool as the outermost layer.
Bryndís is an award-winning designer and has exhibited and sold her designs to several private homes and to public places in Iceland, The United Kingdom, The Netherlands and Denmark. She is in collaboration with the Danish design company Normann Copenhagen with part of her KULA collection; Trivet and Hook.
