Zanat is a design-driven manufacturer of hand-crafted furniture and interior objects, which it produces in collaboration with some of the most distinguished designers and architects of our time. At the foundation of Zanat lies a UNESCO world heritage woodcarving tradition originating from the Bosnian town of Konjic and a century old family business renown in the Balkans for making exquisite hand-carved furniture and interior decoration objects. As the fourth-generation heirs to the family business, brothers Orhan and Adem Niksic decided to establish Zanat as a vehicle to promote a new approach in furniture design and production: one that emphasizes craftsmanship and shows how traditional hand-carving techniques can enrich and open new possibilities for design while simultaneously contributing to sustainable development.

The vision and passion behind Zanat were soon recognized internationally. In its relatively short existence as an international design brand, Zanat has gained trust among some of the globally most prominent designers, with whom it has been successfully collaborating to develop what is becoming an admirable product collection that regularly attract attention of renown design and architecture publications. Likewise, Zanat’s furniture is finding favour globally in visionary design stores and in projects designed by leading interior designers and architects of our time.

The founders of Zanat are breathing a completely new life to this UNESCO listed hand-carving technique, preserving and promoting the craft. While Zanat collaborates with spectacularly talented contemporary designers, the furniture produced by the owners’ grandfather is still preserved in several museums as well as family treasure in some exceptional interiors throughout South Central Europe.
