The “Römerbad” Spa Baths in the Austrian ski resort of Bad Kleinkirchheim are to be extended with facilities for children, health and beauty. When the “Römerbad” was built in 1978, it was one of the first spa baths with special attractions which are now so much en vogue. Both its architectural qualities – reminiscent of the antique spa – and the stunning natural surroundings immediately made it stand out against other similar spa baths.
Drawing on the existing geometrical forms the design proposal is defined by a new, terraced landscape punctuated by 3 similar circular pavilions.
The various new amenities are characterised by different moods and atmospheres ranging from a cave-like meditation zone dug in an existing hill through to lightflooded spaces affording beautiful vistas of the surrounding mountains.
