An environment that nurtures the creative culture of the UK’s leading publisher of print and online content.
BJD transformed what was a very standard cat A office space into a dynamic and quirky workplace for 600 staff, mostly creative content editors for Time Inc’s lifestyle and home brands. There are a multitude of work-settings to inspire and support various activities. Each of the 450 desks are only steps from one of the six unique coffee bars, and several formal and informal meeting areas or heads-down quiet work zones. The first floor features access to a 100 square meter atrium used for everything from town hall meetings to morning yoga classes and lunchtime cafe seating. The project was completed from brief to build in only three months to the great satisfaction of staff and stakeholders alike.
The existing mineral fiber tiles were removed from the grid to expose the slab and services above, while leaving the grid in place to support the base build light fittings. Pressed tin ceiling tiles of various styles were installed in the coffee bars, and the base build mineral fiber tiles were left in meeting rooms because of their acoustic properties, but sprayed black. The raised access floor was exposed over much of the floor plate, and Bolon tiles were used to create a bespoke 1950’s diner styled floor pattern in each of the coffee bars. Black fittings, ironmongery and trim were used throughout. BJD also created and integrated graphics and branding throughout the space.
