Torre Milano is a building inspired by the 20th century Milanese architectural tradition of Portaluppi, Ponti, Aulenti, and Caccia Dominioni. The building looms over the Maggiolina district, not far from Porta Nuova and Central Station. Standing 86 meters high, it points skyward with its rationalist forms, linear volumes, and the continuous dialog between voids and solids. The 23 floors accommodate apartments, wellness & relaxation zones, coworking spaces and recreational areas.
Allusions to the city are constant: each floor bears the name of a Milanese park, the flooring of the lounge area at the base of the Tower evokes the cobblestones of the Duomo and the reinforced concrete echoes the Pirellone and the Torre Velasca.
Among the most ambitious recent projects in Milanese construction, Torre Milano was commissioned by Impresa Rusconi and Storm, developed by Nessi & Majocchi and signed by the architecture studio Beretta Associati. Florim, one of the most important strategic partners, has supplied the porcelain stoneware coverings for the surfaces.
Large 120x280cm x 6mm thick slabs from the Stontech/4.0 collection were installed on the 7,500 m2 ventilated façade, playing off the naturalness of stone to endow the building with an aesthetic rigor that enhances its forms. The same collection covers lobbies and hallways, sketching a refined continuum between façades and interiors.
Florim S1 fixing system was the chosen technical solution for this ventilated facade. As yet, S1 is our top-of-the-line system. It features invisible anchors defining a clean and elegant final look.
S1 is an extremely versatile solution as it gives the possibility of working the slabs on site, and it is also a safe ETA certified system as it uses a double fixing (both chemical and mechanical).
Feasibility study, support in choosing the most suitable fixing system, product size, strucure and executive design, as well as installation and site supervision, are just some of the services that Florim Solutions project division offers to customers, contractors and designers.
Walks White and Airtech Stockholm slabs were used for the pool and adjoining areas. The interiors of the apartments are enhanced by the marble effect of the large I Classici Calacatta Gold slabs in the 120x240cm format, covering the living area. Their gilded vein is echoed on the top of the dining table with FLORIM stone surfaces. The bathroom floors are differentiated by the concrete effect of Maps Light Grayslabs, in perfect continuity with the materials of the building.
The support of Florim Solutions was fundamental throughout different phases of “Torre Milano” project construction, namely, finding the best technical solution, combining the highest aesthetic requirements with the best technical-functional performance, especially in all those applications where Florim porcelain stoneware was used (beams and pillars of pergolas, intrados and ceiling lights, ventilation grilles).
