Kengo Kuma and Associates designed simple triangle-shaped wooden blocks called TSUMIKI (wooden blocks in Japanese), in collaboration with forest conservation organization “more trees.” Pieces can be combined as your imagination goes. You can try original formations to make your own toy or sculpture. There is no limit to the size of your creation.
TSUMIKI PAVILION, designed by Kengo Kuma & Associates and organized by forest conservation organization “more trees,” are all in the same shape but in various sizes, and are scattered in a grassy square in the center of the Tokyo. Everyone from small children to adults can enjoy creation, like a pyramid built from blocks made of Japanese timber. There is also an exhibition of wooden block works, created by fresh imagination of three groups of young creators. Visitors can enjoy those design exhibitions and events at Tokyo Midtownʼ s DESIGN TOUCH, and you become “connected” to design.
“Tokyo Midtown DESIGN TOUCH ” is an annual design event, which started in 2007 under the concept of “Enjoy Designs with All Five Senses.” Everyone from children to adults can enjoy not only various design exhibitions / installations, but also dining and shopping experiences related to the design with the theme of “become connected to design!” . Here we designed the pavilion that consists of different scales of “TSUMIKI.” The exhibition also includes special art installation by 3 young and emerging creators.
