Private House in Basel

The VOLPATOHATZ architectural studio was commissioned to design the interiors of a four floor house in the center of Basel. The house, which dates back to 1472, is located right on the promenade along the river Rhine. Major changes have been made to the interior design with some challenging structural interventions. An example of this is the staircase illuminated by the Dew lamps. A Chandelier Dew with 48 pendants was created to illuminate the entire staircase. The effect is a luminous cascade that embellishes the environment.
